Octave Mandolin for sale  **SOLD**

Octave Mandolin #311  $3300 (includes case)

This octave mandolin is a 4th generation flattop OM.  It has a very lightweight top, Red Spruce fan braced, but the braces are balsa wood topped with carbon fiber tow, and the top is thinned down so the modes of vbration are within the normal range.   The thinner top is about 30% lighter and gives more volume and improved tone.  It has a figured Tasmanian Myrtle back and sides and sounds amazing..  It incorporates all the innovations of the 2nd and 3rd generation as well as this new development.  The 4th generation innovations work extremely well in the bigger instruments just as well or better than the flattop mandolins.. This OM is very resonant with huge sustain and a lovely rich tone.

Woods are - Red Spruce top, figured Myrtle back and sides, Queensland Maple neck, Blackwood bindings, Macassar Ebony fingerboard (12in radius, 32mm wide at the nut), 21inch inch scale length, Schaller GrandTune nickel pearl tuners with Ebony knobs and Ebony adjustable Brekke flat top bridge.  It has a nickel plated Allen tailpiece.  Varnish finish.  Price includes a modified banjo case.

Note:  This octave mandolin cannot have an internal pickup installed because of the way it is braced.

For my American customers, note that this octave mandolin does not have any shell inlay.  The fingerboard marker dots are opal, and the headstock inlay is European Maple, wood.  There is no need for a USA import permit and wildlife paperwork nor any Lacey act paperwork.

Sound clips coming soon.
